What different types of blood types are there

What different types of blood types are there

there r many systems of blood grouping the most common r the ABO groupings & the rhesus factor groupings.

so ABO grouping works of the basis of deciphering what glycoproteins r present in the blood.

the 3 groups are, A B or O depending on what glycoproteins r present. there r no glycoproteins in the blood group O so it is called ''universal'' as in even if u r blood type a u can still recieve blood group O without haveing any adverse reaction.

the second way blood is grouped is according to what antigens r present. antigens r foreign molecules capable of elliciting an antibody response from an organisms defence system. the most important factor is rhesus factor. if u have it, u r positive or + & if u do not you're negative or -. so with those two factors u get the following groups:

a+
a-
b+
b-
ab+
ab-
o+
o-

What different types of blood types are there

There is A, B, AB, and O. All of these come in negative and positive. There is also an extremely rare type called Bombay that about five people in the world have.
O is a universal donor, and AB is a universal recipient. So being AB is definitely something you'd want :D
